Great Scottish Swim postponed
We have just heard that the Great Scottish Swim, due to take place this Saturday (21 August 2010), has been postponed. This is due to safety fears over the prevalence of blue-green algae in Strathclyde Loch. The decision was taken in the interest of public safety and is the result of stringent water quality checks completed by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
If you were planning to take part in the race you should hear by email or text message. The organisers hope to reschedule the race in the next few weeks. If this does not suit you can defer your entry to 2011 or apply for a full refund of your entry fee.
Organisers of the race Nova International said, “We apologise to anybody who will be inconvenienced by the postponement, but the safety of participants and the event safety team are our number one priority at all times.”
